Course description

A critical examination of the research and practice in using digital technologies to transform classroom pedagogy and enhance students' learning experiences. Building on prior knowledge and using the knowledge and skills developed in the course, students will identify a focus of their choosing to test concepts of usage, and evaluate new instructional designs for using digital technologies in classrooms.

Course overview

Are you interested in effective integration of digital technologies into your classroom? Drawing widely on recent research, this course helps you address on-going changes in classroom practice such as increasing use of digital technologies, as well as moves to BYOD and 1 to 1 device schools.

Participants will develop criticality in inquiry in action, reflexive meaning making and timely action required for effective, research-informed integration of digital technologies into your teaching practice.

This course is a hybrid course, which means that the course is taught simultaneously in two modes of delivery. The first mode of delivery is a blended course: you will have some compulsory in-class sessions on the Epsom campus and complete the rest of the course online. The second mode of delivery is a fully online course: you will join the compulsory on-campus sessions remotely using a video-conference function, and complete the rest of the course online. When you enrol you will be able to select your choice of delivery mode.

Learning outcomes

At the completion of this course, it is intended that students will be able to: Critique relevant literature in a manner that enables digital enhancement issues to be fully debated. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the theory, research and practice of digital enhancement. Apply this critical understanding in order to evaluate and further develop their class site for digital enhancement.
